We have many wetlands within our service region where you can observe an abundance of bird species including waterbirds, migratory shorebirds and terrestrial species. Monitoring of these bird species provides an insight on the impact of environmental watering and helps inform our Environmental Water Management Plans.
Migratory birds from Japan, China, Korea and Siberia have been spotted within our wetlands and species new to our area were found in 2020.
If you would like to know more about the amazing birds in our region and how to monitor them, please click here to sign up to our engagement register.
Birdata is an Australian web portal and free App where you can log in and record the species and location of the birds you see. The data you collect will be added with Citizen Scientists all over Australia and will be used to gain insight and protect Australia’s birds.
