The program will deliver works that are minor in nature, such as small culverts and earthen banks. These structures will be able to be open or closed, and will not need to be removed after watering events or during a flood. Temporary pumps will continue to be used to deliver water to wetlands.
The RFMF sites are located on the Victorian side of the Murray River, between Boundary Bend and the South Australian border.
All project sites are scheduled for completion by December 2026.
The program has been developed by Mallee CMA, in partnership with Traditional Owners, private landholders, key stakeholders and a broad range of technical experts.
The RFMF program is being implemented as part of Victoria’s obligations under the Murray–Darling Basin Plan through funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
